This free bauble crochet pattern will help you make a nut shaped Christmas tree ornament.
When I think of what kind of decorations I want on my Christmas tree, I’m a fan of different shapes, textures, and colours. So when it came to designing some bauble free crochet patterns, I really didn’t want to stop at just one. So here is a nut shaped Christmas bauble to join the traditional bauble I designed first. This is a super easy and quick crochet pattern if you’re comfortable with crocheting in the round. It also looks great on the Christmas tree once finished too – I hope you enjoy it!

Using the yarn (noted above) with a 2.5 mm crochet hook, the Nut Shape Bauble turned out to be approximately 11cm/4.3″ high (excluding the hanging yarn thread) by 5cm/2″ wide. Please note the size of your make will vary depending on your hook size, the yarn you use, and your tension/gauge.

Crochet top tips and additional pattern information
- Pattern level: Easy
- Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
- Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing appearing through your stitches.
- Working in continuous rounds: This pattern is worked in continuous rounds (spiral).
- Stitch marker: Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each row to keep track of the number of stitches.
- Stuffing: This piece is stuffed continuously throughout.
- Copyright: You are more than welcome to sell your crocheted creations using this pattern on a small scale. Cut yarn and fasten off. Using a tapestry needle weave your end yarn tail through the FLO of the final 6 sts and pull tight to close. Weave your yarn tail into the Bauble to hide. See image 1.
Cut approximately 40 cm / 16 “ of Colour A (Yellow) yarn and use a tapestry needle to weave in between R1 & R2 of the Bauble.
With one strand of yarn on either side between R1 & R2, use your hands to even the yarn strand length.
Tie a double knot in the top of the yarn strand loop.
