Top Tips & Additional Information
- Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
- Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing appearing through your stitches.
- Working in rows: This pattern is crocheted back and forth in rows unless otherwise stated.
- Stitch marker: Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round to keep track of the number of stitches.
- Construction: This decoration is made by crocheting two flat pieces. These two pieces are then joined together by crocheting around the sides. The decoration is stuffed as you join the pieces together. This is all explained as you move throughout the pattern.
- Copyright: You may not copy, reproduce or sell this pattern. However, I’m more than happy for you to sell the makes you’ve created using this pattern on a small scale. For more information, please read the full copyright notice at the bottom of this page.

Cut yarn and fasten off. Repeat steps to make 2nd tree. See completed trees in the image below.
Tinsel (Optional)
Using Colour B Yarn (Berry).
Starting from the bottom corner of the tree, surface slip stitch in a zig-zag formation to the top of the tree. Use approximately 40 surface sl sts, but don’t worry about exact st count as this is for decoration only. Cut yarn, fasten off and weave in all ends.
Repeat steps for second tree, however crochet in the opposite direction by starting in the other bottom corner.
See completed tinsel on Christmas trees in the image below.
Crochet Christmas Decoration Assembly Instructions
Line up trees with the right sides facing outwards.
Now we’re going to crochet around all sides of both trees to join them together. St count doesn’t matter here, however st counts can be found in the diagram below.
Insert crochet hook into side st of both trees at the top (see image below) and attach Colour C Yarn (Gold).
sc around sides of trees to join them together. Use a ch st at each corner that points outwards. Stuff tree at half way point and continue to stuff as you crochet the sides together.
*When you reach the tip of the tree, 1 sc in the top st, ch 20, sc in same st in top of tree, sl st to 1st st where you started with Colour C Yarn (Gold).
Please note: The loop of the hanging decoration can be made longer or shorter by adding or removing ch sts. Check you are happy with the length of the loop before cutting your yarn.
Cut yarn and fasten off. Using a needle, run the yarn tail through the first and last chains of the loop to pinch the bottom of the loop together. Sew in all yarn tails into the tree to hide.
