Do you like the idea of answering multiple choice crochet questions to see how well you know our craft? If so, the crochet quiz is for you.
The Crochet Quiz is a monthly trivia night I host in my Instagram stories for everyone in our crafty community.
I realise not everyone has Instagram or is free during the 24-hour period that the Crochet Quiz is live for in my Instagram stories, so I always post the quiz to my blog afterwards so it can be played (and replayed) by anyone who’s interested in a bit of Crochet Trivia.
This is solely meant as a bit of fun for you to test out what you know about crochet. It’s also a fun way to learn something new about our craft. There are 10 multiple choice questions and there is only one correct answer in each question.
You can play the Crochet Quiz by clicking the button below which will take you to an anonymous Google Form, or you can simply scroll down this page for the questions followed by the answers. Don’t worry, you will be warned before getting to the answers – no cheating!😉
The main benefit of using the Google form is that your score will be automatically calculated. Whereas if you use the questions on this page, you’ll just need to manually keep track of your answers and your score at the end.
Enough chat from me, let’s get to the fun part! Here is the Crochet Quiz from June 2022. I hope you enjoy it!

Answers to the June 2022 Crochet Quiz
Q1. What is this section of a crochet hook called?
A) Head
The hook part of a crochet hook is called the head of the crochet hook. If you’d like to learn more about the anatomy of a crochet hook, I’ve written a blog post on How to hold your yarn and crochet hook. The post includes a diagram showing all the different names of the parts of a crochet hook.
Q2. What is the title of this crochet pattern book?
C) Cuddly Amigurumi Toys
This was a tricky question, especially if you haven’t seen this crochet pattern book before. It is indeed Cuddly Amigurumi Toys by Mari-Liis Lille. This is a crochet pattern book I have in my own collection, and I’ve crocheted the dog shown in the image below before. It was a great pattern, and I didn’t realise how big the dog would be. It certainly turns out looking like a cuddly amigurumi toy! I’ve added a link below in case you want to check out this book to buy on Amazon.
Q3. What fibre is this yarn made from?
C) Cotton
Rico Design Ricorumi DK yarn is one of my favourite yarns for making amigurumi and it is made out of 100% cotton fibre. Many of my smaller more intricate amigurumi patterns were made out of this yarn. If you’re a fan of making amigurumi, I highly recommend giving it a try especially if you’re making more intricate creations.
Q4. What would a HDC stitch in US terms be called in UK terms?
A) HTR
Well done if you got this one right! When you use lots of different crochet patterns by different designers it can really help to understand the different terminology (US versus UK terminology). For example, while I’m based in the UK most of the amigurumi patterns I use are written in US terms (including my own designs). However, I often buy crochet magazines where all the patterns are written in UK terms. So knowing these differences allows me to use a wider range of crochet patterns. If you’re keen on learning more about the terminology, my latest blog post How to read a crochet pattern touches on this subject and includes some of the most common differences between US & UK terms when it comes to crochet.
Q5. What yarn brand is this?
B) Hobbii
Hobbii yarn has become very popular amongst crocheters, especially those living in Europe and the UK. Although, they also do ship globally! The company is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and since I lived there for 6 months in my younger years my eyes always light up when I see a Danish company doing so well (especially in fibre arts). Not that it’s a surprise that they’re doing well – they are great!
I have also tried the Rainbow 8/8 Quality 100% Cotton yarn that’s pictured below, and it is a great fibre to work with. As a word of warning though, I did find this yarn to be thicker than the other DK yarns I’ve used. I’d consider it to be a medium weight yarn (worsted/aran). You can check it out here if you’re interested in giving it a try.
Q6. What date does voting close for the 2022 Amigurumi.com Design Contest?
B) 25 June 2022
Voting closed the day after I published this Crochet Quiz to stories, which is why I wanted to include this question in the quiz. It’s a great competition for amigurumi designers around the world to showcase their work all around a certain theme. This year’s theme was endangered animals, and you can learn more about the contest here.
Q7. Which crochet designer wrote the pattern book pictured below?
D) Khuc Cay
Sweet Crochet Friends is indeed written by crochet designer, Khuc Cay. I own this book but haven’t used it yet! Have you tried any crochet patterns from this book as yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments if so. I’d love to hear what you think!
Q8. What kind of crochet hook hold is shown in the picture below?
B) Knife Hold
The two most common ways to hold your crochet hook is the knife hold and the pencil hold. You can learn more on holding your crochet hook and yarn here.
Q9. Do you need to do a gauge swatch before crocheting amigurumi?
B) No
While some amigurumi patterns do include the gauge the designer has used to create the pattern, doing a gauge swatch is not required when making amigurumi. Generally, gauge swatches are needed when you crochet something that has a specific size, such as a garment or hat. This ensures that before you start crocheting the item, the end piece will come out in the right size and it will fit the person you’re making it for.
Q10. How many amigurumi designs are there in this year’s Amigurumi.com design contest?
B) 687
This was a tricky one, but I added it in as a fun one to try and guess. I hope you still enjoyed it! You can learn more about the amigurumi design contest here, and if you browse through all the design entries you may even spot my Ruben the Red Panda design.
I hope you enjoyed June 2022’s Crochet Quiz! I’d also absolutely love to know how you got on. If you’re up for it, comment below and let me know your score. I’d love to hear from you.
Until next time, happy crocheting,
