I was super excited to be approached on Instagram by pattern designer, Nicole Chase, and offered the opportunity to test the pattern for her adorable Hug Me Bunny Lovey.

I couldn’t help but jump at the opportunity to pattern test for a designer again, so I said yes and dived straight in.

Introducing Huggy

Yes, that’s right – I called this adorable little lovey Huggy. I think she’s just the sweetest. Don’t you agree? She certainly loves her cuddles and is so extremely soft too.

Crochet pattern for the Hug Me Bunny Lovey

This is a free pattern by Nicole Chase, just click here to find it. It’s super easy to follow, and works up really quickly.

Yarn

The rule of thumb here is Worsted weight yarn. For the blanket, I used Rainbow 8/8 100% Natural Cotton from Hobbii in Turquoise (no. 33), Dark Mint (No. 85), and White (no. 1). Whereas for the bunny itself I used a new yarn I hadn’t used before called Scheepjes Cahlista 100% Double Gassed Cotton in snow white (no. 106). Boy, this Cahlista yarn is super soft – I absolutely adored working with it!

Helpful tutorial: Weaving in the ends of a flat crocheted item

If you’re anything like me, and you’ve only made amigurumi to-date, you may need some help with how to hide all the loose bits of yarn after completing the blanket part of this lovely. This YouTube tutorial on Red Heart Yarns called, Weaving in Ends – Crochet by Red Heart with Kathleen Sams, helped me so much! I hope it helps you too.

Lesson Learned: Blankets can be made starting with a magic circle

Okay, you may laugh, but this surprised me so much! I knew that blankets could be made by crocheting in rows, corner-to-corner blankets, or even by joining smaller crocheted shapes together. But starting with a magic circle? Say whaaaat? This seriously blew my mind. Then I realised… this is also how granny squares are made. *facepalm*

Final thoughts about the Hug Me Bunny Lovey

I absolutely loved pattern-testing this adorable lovely for Nicole. It is such a great pattern, easy and quick to make (even if you haven’t crocheted a blanket before!), and the result is just adorable.

If you end up making this Hug Me Bunny Lovely, I’d love to know how you got on! Did you learn anything new too? Let me know in the comments below, or get in touch with me here.

Until next time, happy crocheting,

Cilla x
