Easter is just around the corner, and what better way to kick off the long weekend than with a brand new Free Crochet Easter Egg Pattern!
Whether you’re looking to add a handmade touch to your Easter decorations, whip up some last-minute gifts, or just dive into a fun spring-themed project, this easy and adorable crochet Easter Egg pattern is perfect for the occasion.

This festive design is a simplified adaptation of my beloved Eggy Animal Crochet Patterns – including the Eggy Paw Pals, Eggy Farm Friends, and Eggy Mythical Mates. If you’ve enjoyed those, you’ll love how this amigurumi Easter Egg brings the same charm in a classic minimalist shape that’s quick to make and super customisable.
Launching just in time for the Easter long weekend, it’s the perfect excuse to grab your crochet hook, dive into your yarn stash (this is a great scrap yarn project!), and get festive with your crochet!
Without further ado, let’s dive straight into what you’ll need to get started.
Materials needed to crochet your Easter Egg
You really don’t need much to get started with this free crochet Easter Egg pattern and feel free to mix up the yarn type/size along with your hook size. This is genuinely a great project for using up that scrap yarn – I mean, imagine all the wonderful amigurumi Easter Egg colours you could make! Specifically, however, here’s what I used:
- Worsted weight yarn – I used Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran in light yellow.
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Stuffing
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
Easter Egg Amigurumi Size
Using the yarn and hooks specified above, my crochet Easter Egg was 7cm/3″ high by 5cm/1.96” wide.

Please note: This crochet pattern is written in US terms.

Crochet Easter Egg Pattern Notes
- Pattern Level: Easy
- Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn colours, weight, and material based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and the size of your final make.
- Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing from appearing through your stitches.
- Copyright: You are more than welcome to sell your crocheted creation using this pattern on a small scale. However, the pattern itself cannot be reproduced, sold, or redistributed in any way without the designers’ consent.
