Use this free crochet fig pattern to make an amigurumi version of this delectable fruit.
With my (what feels like) never-ending list of current crochet WIPs, I decided to release another quick, easy and fun free crochet pattern this month. And here it is, the Fancy Fig!

This little amigurumi fig is the perfect addition to your crochet fruit collection. Whether you’re making play food, decorating your kitchen, or simply love crocheting food ami, this pattern is for you. This is a beginner-friendly crochet pattern but is also a fun make for more experienced crocheters, it works up quickly and uses just a small amount of yarn.
Figs are known or their distinctive teardrop shape and rich, deep colour. This crocheted fig is my attempt to imitate this while being soft, squishy and calorie-free (although, maybe don’t test that! 😂)! So go grab your crochet hook and yarn, and let’s start crocheting this adorable crochet fig.

Crochet Fig Pattern Information

- Worsted weight or Aran weight yarn in the following colours. For reference, I used Rico Design Creative Cotton Aran. The amount of yarn used is in brackets.

- Colour B – Green (1 gram = 1.7m / 1.9yds)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Stuffing

- Scissors
- Stitch marker

Crochet Fig Size
Using the yarn and hooks specified in this pattern, my Fancy Fig turned out to be 7.5 cm / 3 ” high (from the top of the fig’s stem to the bottom of the fig).
Gauge
Gauge is not required for this pattern, however keep tension consistent throughout. For reference, my gauge was as follows:
5 sc stitches x 5 rows = 2.5cm / 1″

This crochet pattern is written using US terms and abbreviations.
R# – Row/round number

Top tips and additional crochet pattern information
- Pattern level: Easy
- Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
- Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing from appearing through your stitches.
- Working in rounds: All parts within this pattern are worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.
- Stitch marker: Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round/row to keep track of the number of stitches.
- Stuffing: Unless otherwise stated, stuff all amigurumi parts firmly as you crochet.
- Decreases: I recommend using invisible decreases for all amigurumi pieces throughout.
Fancy Fig Crochet Pattern
An absolute bonus of this crochet fig pattern is that it’s completely no sew! And… it’s just one piece – super easy. Let’s get started!
Fig
Start with Yarn Colour A (Purple)
R1: mc with 6 sc (6)
R2: [inc] x 6 (12)
R3: [sc, inc] x 6 (18)
R4: [2 sc, inc] x 6 (24)
R5: [3 sc, inc] x 6 (30)
R6: [4 sc, inc] x 6 (36)
R7 – R12: sc around (36) – 6 rounds
R13: [4 sc, dec] x 6 (30)
R14: [3 sc, dec] x 6 (24)
R15: [2 sc, dec] x 6 (18)
Start stuffing fig.
R16: [4 sc, dec] x 3 (15)
R17: [3 sc, dec] x 3 (12)
R18: [2 sc, dec] x 3 (9)
R19 – R20: sc around (9) – 2 rounds
Change to Yarn Colour B (Green).
R21: [sc, dec] x 3 (6)
R22: sc around (6)
Cut yarn. Using a tapestry needle weave through FLO of last 6 sc and pull yarn tail tight to close the gap. Sew yarn tail into fig to hide.
And that’s it! It’s as simple as that!
