When I recently received an email from a crocheter requesting more food amigurumi patterns because they loved all my free fruit crochet patterns, I immediately had the idea to make a carrot crochet pattern. And honestly, I have absolutely no idea why! It was genuinely the first other food item (other than fruit) that popped into my head. I also thought it would be an easy, fun, and super quick crochet design to make, and guess what, I was right!

Since I wanted to get this out to you before the end of January 2025, I also have not had it pattern tested (insert scared face here!). However, because of that reason, I also haven’t released the PDF pattern for this Classy Carrot amigurumi yet either. So if you do decide to crochet this carrot and notice any (even the slightest) errors or anything you’re not sure about, please please do reach out to me direct and I can help you through the pattern. You can reach me on almost any social media platform @cillacrochets or email me here.

As always, if you do use this free carrot crochet pattern, I’d absolutely love to see your makes! You can share them with me by posting a picture on social media and using the hashtag #CillaCrochets or by tagging me @cillacrochets. I can’t wait and I hope you enjoy this latest free crochet pattern!

Classy Carrot Crochet Pattern Information

Materials needed

Carrot amigurumi size

Using the yarn and hooks specified in this pattern, my Classy Carrot turned out to be 17 cm / 6.7 ” high (from the top of the carrot leaves to the point of the carrot)

Gauge

Gauge is not required for this pattern, however keep tension consistent throughout. For reference, my gauge was as follows:

5 sc stitches x 5 rows = 2.5cm / 1″

Top tips and additional crochet pattern information

  • Pattern level: Easy
  • Yarn: The yarn choice is completely up to you, and you can change the yarn weight, material, and colours based on your own personal preference. Just be aware that the weight of your yarn may impact the hook size you need to use and also the size of your final make.
  • Hook size: I recommend using a smaller hook size than recommended on the yarn label. This will stop the stuffing from appearing through your stitches.
  • Working in rounds: All parts within this pattern are worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.
  • Stitch marker: Use a stitch marker at the beginning of each round/row to keep track of the number of stitches.
  • Stuffing: Unless otherwise stated, stuff all amigurumi parts firmly as you crochet.
  • Decreases: I recommend using invisible decreases for all amigurumi pieces throughout.

Carrot

Using Colour A (Orange) Yarn.

R1: mc with 6 sc (6)

R2: [inc, 2 sc] x 2 (8)

R3: sc around (8)

R4: [3 sc, inc] x 2 (10)

R5: sc around (10)

R6: [2 sc, inc, 2 sc] x 2 (12)

R7: sc around (12)

R8: [inc, 5 sc] x 2 (14)

R9: sc around (14)

R10: [3 sc, inc, 3 sc] x 2 (16)

R11 – R12: sc around (16) – 2 rounds

R13: [7 sc, inc] x 2 (18)

R14 – R15: sc around (18) – 2 rounds

Start stuffing the carrot firmly. See image below.

Keep stuffing firmly throughout.

**R16: [**4 sc, inc, 4 sc] x 2 (20)

R17 – R19: sc around (20) – 3 rounds

R20: [inc, 9sc] x 2 (22)

R21 – R24: sc around (22) – 4 rounds

R25: [5 sc, inc, 5 sc] x 2 (24)

R26 – R32: sc around (24) – 7 rounds

Now we will start to crochet the end of the carrot to close the crocheted piece.

R33: [2 sc, dec] x 6 (18)

R34: [sc, dec] x 6 (12)

At this point, finish stuffing the carrot firmly. The next round will be the final round before we fasten off the carrot.

R35: [dec] x 6 (6)

Cut yarn and fasten off. Using a tapestry needle, weave yarn tail through the FLO of the last 6 sc and pull yarn tail tight to close the gap at the top of the carrot. Then weave the yarn tail into the carrot to hide.

See completed carrot (without leaves) in the image below.

Carrot Leaves

Using Colour B (Green) Yarn. Chains are not counted in total st counts.

Start: Ch 8

R1: Starting in 2nd Ch from hook, sc in next 7 sts (7)

That’s the first leaf created, now we’ll make another by not fastening off and going straight into crocheting another chain in R2.

R2: Ch 10, starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 9 sts (9)

Now we’ll crochet the third leaf by continuing on and crocheting a third chain.

R3: Ch 7, starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6 sts (6)

Insert your hook into the very first chain at the start of this piece, as shown in the image below and 1 sc.

Now cut yarn and fasten off leaving a longer yarn tail for sewing.

Assembly

Using a tapestry needle and the yarn tail from the leaves, sew the middle section of the leaves to R35 of the carrot as shown in the image below.
